Making a statement via fashion

Fashion is not about keeping up with the Kardashians or wearing the latest designs. Fashion is not about silencing the critics or slaying. Fashion today is hitting hard and it one of the choicest weapons when you want to make a bold statement.

For President Obama's final address to the nation from Chicago, Michelle wore an elegant black flowing dress with a sheer, lace-patterned overlay and full-length sleeves. The dress is designed by Jason Wu, who also created Mrs. Obama's gown for the 2009 Inaugural Ball. Last night's dress symbolized more than just her relationship with Jason Wu: the color black is solemn, a color of mourning, which makes it fitting to mark the end of the Obama family's time in the White House.
